How trades use a weekly permit list

  1. Lumber yards and building supply

Rank the builders pulling the most permits. Call or visit the busiest first.

  2. Drywall, flooring, cabinets and paint

On a new home these orders come weeks to months after the permit, so the list reaches the builder early. Many send a flyer, then follow up with a call.

  3. Portable toilets, dumpsters and site services

A job site needs them from the first day. Get the builder's number before the work starts.

  4. Equipment rental and business lenders

A builder starting a large job may need equipment or financing.

A permit is not an order. It tells you who is building, where and how big.

Data: New York City's own permit records, from its open data portal (data.cityofnewyork.us), pulled Oct 27, 2026.

Questions

Where does the list come from? Is it official?

From New York City's own permit records on its open data portal (data.cityofnewyork.us), pulled Oct 27, 2026. Repeat filings of the same job are merged and individual people's names are left out. It is not an official record: check with the city before relying on any row.

How fresh is it?

Each list covers 7 full days of permits, pulled 2 days after the last one because cities post permits late. This one: issued Oct 19 to 25, 2026, pulled Oct 27, 2026.

What is in each row?

Each row: builder, job address, what is being built, job size (value where the city gives it), dates, and permit status.

What arrives each week?

Every Tuesday: this list for the new week, the busiest New York City builders over the last 8 weeks ranked, and every other permit the city issued.

Can I cancel?

Month to month. Cancel any time. First month not useful to you? We refund it in full. Terms.

What is not included?

No email addresses, no owner names, no search and no alerts. Only New York City's own permit records, not the suburbs.

Why not download the city's file myself?

You can. It lists every filing as its own row. This list merges repeat filings of the same job, keeps the columns that matter and sorts the jobs by size.

This week in New York City

I pulled 3,316 building permits from New York City's city records for Oct 19 to 25, 2026, with the data retrieved on Oct 27, 2026. The free list groups new-build and renovation filings into 405 job sites across 326 builders. These are job sites, not a count of new homes. The dated issue window above is the week this page covers.

How suppliers use New York City permit data

I organize New York City permit data so a supplier or subcontractor can review the recorded work and job address before deciding whether a project fits their trade. Start with the scope of work, then compare the listed size where the city provides it. Check the original city record before relying on a row. I leave out individual people's names; business details appear only where the source provides them. A permit does not mean a builder needs another supplier, has an open bid, or wants a sales call. This list covers the city source named below, not surrounding towns. Use the free sample to check whether those records fit your work before paying for a recurring list. I keep the issue dates visible so older records stay identifiable.
